The Client: NCC – The National Consortium of Colleges (NCC), established in June 2001, has focused on encouraging widespread workforce development through blended/distance learning.  With this mixed mode of delivery, employers can access high quality vocational training to meet their needs with minimum disruption to the operation of their business.  To date, NCC has engaged with over 20,000 employers, and delivered quality training to over half a million learners.

The challenge: To provide the client print management into 1000’s of addresses throughout the UK on a daily basis, storing and distributing all their distance learning literature to ensure their Tutors can provide the courses into businesses and colleges.

Setting the scene: NCC provides many different types of Courses designed for self education and Tutor led education, to be delivered in the workplace or at home. Their courses are used by many Tutors and businesses throughout the UK and are supplied direct from G&H in Trafford Park into many UK addresses daily.

We have been providing a support service to NCC for over 7 years and they have always ordered on an ad-hoc basis. Their learning collateral was stored and distributed from their offices with their resources up to the end of 2012 and into early 2013. We offered our Print Management Solution at G&H were we provide a professional service with our on-line ordering portal (Tharstens E4Print and Chili), which is linked to our MIS infrastructure.

Since 2006, our technical support and specialist advice on MRO spares management has helped generate over £100m of operational cost savings for customers.

The Process: Each day Tutors, Colleges and businesses need printed collateral which is ordered directly with NCC. The number of daily orders was increasing and therefore so was the NCC resource costs. G&H offered NCC the utilization of its specialist on-line ordering service which is incorporated into our full Print Management Solution. All of their items were brought over to be stocked in our warehouse ready to be dispatched next day or even same day. Our on line ordering allows secure password protected logins and individuals can call off either a stock line or a bespoke piece of print.

Our Service Level Agreements offer different tiers of service but are tailored to the needs of NCC and other similar clients. We give the client what they want in a friendly and efficient manner.

Each month NCC receive their reports detailing from our MIS who has ordered what products, how many, how much they paid and what remaining stocks they have. We manage the NCC lines for them so they do not need to worry about reordering stocks as we set agreed reorder levels. A lot of lines are printed to order and although they are classed as ‘stock’ they are in actual fact produced to order reducing waste and storage space.

The Result: Every day we ensure the NCC customers have all the tools they need to provide their customers the level of service and quality NCC gets from G&H. This has been the case for over 7 years and together we have developed and improved our relationship.
