You will need: 220 milliliters of lukewarm water, 1 teaspoon of sugar, 1 packet of dry yeast, 400 grams of wheat flour, a little vegetable oil, 1 teaspoon of salt, 2 teaspoons of optional spices (eg dried Italian herbs)

Here’s how: Put the lukewarm water in a large enough mixing bowl and add the teaspoon of sugar. Then pour in the dry yeast. Mix well until the yeast has completely dissolved. Then place the flour in a strainer and sift it over the yeast water. Now add salt and herbs. Then stir well with a spoon until a reasonably smooth dough has formed.

Soak the work surface with a few drops of vegetable oil, rub in the oil and also rub your hands with it. The dough does not stick to the hands or the worktop and is easy to knead. Tip the dough ball on the work surface and knead with your hands for a few minutes until it becomes nice and tough and smooth. Then put back in the bowl, cover with a clean towel and leave to ferment in a warm place for an hour.

When the time has passed, rub the worktop and hands with oil again, remove the lumps of dough from the bowl and knead again. Shape into a ball. Rub a pan with a lid (about 30 centimeters in diameter) with vegetable oil and place the dough ball in the middle. Press to a flat steak with your hands, fill the pan completely. Then put the saucepan on the stove. Put the lid on – and then bake the bread on medium heat (level 4, max 5) for about 15 minutes. Then turn and cook until crispy on the other side.
