Perhaps the best non-alcoholic Negroni recipe
Why you should beware of kitchen sponges and why it is better to write SMS standing: The best suggestions for the weekend.
Finally a non-alcoholic Negroni that tastes good

The classic from Italy: Negroni, invented 100 years ago in Florence.

Non-alcoholic cocktails have been in vogue for a while now and we fully support that. So far, we have not been able to do much with Negroni without a shot – how do you want to prepare a non-alcoholic drink that consists exclusively of high-proof (gin, vermouth, Campari)?
Until recently we drank a «Nogroni» in the Grand Café Lochergut in Zurich on a Monday night: excellent. Not too sweet, pleasantly sour. You hardly notice that there is no alcohol involved. The manager of Grand Café Lochergut revealed the ingredients to us.
Et voilà, here is the recipe for perhaps the best non-alcoholic Negroni:
3 cl Seedlip Grove 42 (non-alcoholic gin)
3 cl Monin bitter non-alcoholic
3 cl Palermo rosso (non-alcoholic vermouth)
Served stirred on ice with orange peel – cheers.
silent protest
This image circulated on social media this week and was interpreted as an example of silent protest among the Russian population: With her blue scarf and yellow coat, the elderly lady on the subway is dressed in the colors of the Ukrainian flag.
Although we can not verify the authenticity of this photo: it affects us again and again. The woman radiates a calmness and determination that is good nowadays.
series of tips
If you want to see a conciliatory series that is not intrusively happy (it would be hard to bear anyway): the miniseries “Somebody, Somewhere” (HBO) is recommended. The film takes place in a provincial town in the American Midwest and sets the emotional framework for the film: sometimes melancholy, but always characterized by down-to-earth kindness.
Sam, the main character, is in the middle of life in terms of age, but otherwise a little crooked. She recently lost her sister, and now only her other homophobic and rigid sister, her unfaithful brother-in-law, her drinking mother and her own disorientation remain. So she moves in everyday life and it does not really happen that much, but is not her own life mostly unspectacular?
The streaming service HBO calls the miniseries “semi-autobiographical” because the lead actress Bridget Everett grew up in Manhattan, Kansas, as well as her film character. And just like them, she has spent several years waiting – for breakthroughs, for happiness – while feeling that everyone else is passing her by. Now, 49, she has her first lead role. Her conclusion: “Do not give up.”

New must for cats: the automatic brush.
Photo: Geeky Gadgets
Cows have loved it for a long time, now even cats should be able to enjoy it: A fully automatic brush. You mount it on the wall and whenever the cat feels like it, it can curl up to the rotating brush and be massaged gently. His human roommates are not only relieved that they are less often used for petting. Since the brush also picks up cat hair, there should also be less dirt in the apartment.
That’s just it Crowdfunding for the cat brush “Gromatic” has been completed successfullynow the smart will be manufactured in Germany and will be on the market from the autumn.
the whim of nature
Speaking of animals, have you ever heard of the elephant hat? This whimsical creature has been alive since last summer in Basel Zolli. It is a strange creation of nature: in size, the elephant muscle is more reminiscent of a cat, its gait resembles an antelope and with its long tail, a rat will spontaneously think of it when you look at it.
In the wild, elephant tusks are native to the rainforests of East Africa, and apart from Basel Zoo, only twelve other zoos in the world have this unusual species.
The animals use their long noses to look for earthworms, crickets or other insects in the soil or in the leaves. And by the way, they are principled creatures: elephant mussels are monogamous and remain faithful to their partner for life.

The mobile thumb is the new tennis elbow: Anyone who only writes with one thumb instead of two loads the wrists.

It is called a mobile thumb when the wrist hurts because you have been typing on your smartphone for too long. This is because the thumb is repeatedly spread and stretched unnaturally when writing with one hand. On the other hand, the German Society for Orthopedics and Trauma Surgery now has one piece of advice: Get on your feet! Typing on the smartphone standing instead of sitting is orthopedically healthier. And when you sit, then support your forearms, this also relieves the wrists.
We would like to give another tip against aching thumbs: send voicemails. Or put down your mobile and meet for a beer.
bacterial attachment

Fungi are moist, permeable to air and full of food particles – perfect for bacteria.

People like to suppress it, but it should be noted again at this point: Not the refrigerator, not the toilet, no, the kitchen sponge is the really underrated bacterial hotspot in the household. These are real places of fear, from a microbiological point of view.
Up to 54 billion bacteria live in a fungus – per cubic centimeter. Science has now found out why fungi offer bacteria an optimal habitat: they are not only moist, permeable to air and interspersed with food debris, but also have the perfect surface for bacterial breeding due to their perforated structure. It writes it Science News Magazine with reference to a study in “Nature Chemical Biology”.
In other words, because kitchen fungi have air spaces of different sizes, a variety of types of bacteria feel at home and multiply happily into a large, colorful herd of bacteria that is much more versatile than in other, more homogeneous habitats.
usch The good news: Most of these bacteria are not dangerous. But if you are unsure: use a brush instead of a sponge.
