Try spicy cauliflower wings! With this delicious recipe

Crispy chicken wings, also known as buffalo wings in the United States, are a popular feather dish. Spicy and warm – and also good as a snack. Chicken wings are breaded, fried and covered with a hot sauce.

A meat-free variant is no less good: cauliflower wings! They are cooked in a very similar way, except that there is fresh cauliflower in the crunchy, spicy shell. Give it a try! We have a recipe from the oven for you here.

Recipe for crispy cauliflower wings

You need: 1 cauliflower, 100 grams of flour, 2 teaspoons paprika powder, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, 2 teaspoons turmeric (ground) 1 teaspoon salt, 180 milliliters buttermilk, 50 grams breadcrumbs, 50 grams cornflakes (crumbled). And: barbecue sauce or chili sauce

Here’s how it works: Cut the cauliflower into small bouquets, wash and place on kitchen paper. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees.

Mix flour and spices in a bowl. Then stir the buttermilk into a viscous mass without lumps.

Put the cauliflower bouquets in the dough and turn. Mix breadcrumbs and crumbled cornflakes in a deep plate and toss bouquets in it one by one.

Place the marinated and breaded cauliflower bouquets well apart on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and place in the oven.

Bake the cauliflower bouquets for 20 to 25 minutes until the crust is golden brown. Brush the baked bouquets with barbecue sauce and bake again for about 15 minutes until the cauliflower wings are crispy and dark (not black!).

You can dip the cauliflower wings in a dip, spicy with barbecue sauce or chili sauce. If you like it finer and creamier, you can simply use sour cream as a dip.

The cauliflower wings taste best fresh from the oven, but if there are any left over, they are also delicious cold as a snack. And when the garden season starts again, the vegetarian wings also fit perfectly on the grill.
