If you want to go a little faster, you can simply pour together the thirds of the dough and carefully marble them.

How does the pattern in the cake batter work?

The zebra cake contains its typical pattern by pouring different colored dough alternately in the middle of the springform pan. This creates a spiral pattern of light and dark dough, which rises during baking and ultimately creates the typical zebra pattern when cut.

How long does it take to bake a zebra cake?

The baking time on the zebra cake varies and depends, among other things, on the type of oven you use and the program you bake in. Basically, we recommend that you use the time stated in the recipe as a guide. Just before the end of the baking time, you can do the skewer test: To do this, make a hole in the middle of the sponge cake with a wooden skewer. If no dough sticks, the cake is ready.

How long does a zebra cake last?

If your zebra cake is a sponge cake, it stays moist for 3 to 4 days under a cake lid or in an airtight container. During the summer months, it is advisable to store the cake airtight in the refrigerator.
